Finally Flowerfish.com have a blog!

I guess its about time.

Been too buzy going around and not getting to this, so once and for all, I found a lazy Sunday evening, set the blogging account up and here it is... Flowerfish's first ever post. Found nothing much to add yet but hopefully it will be populated with info soon.

I have also set up this Google's picture album thingy called Picasa and loaded photos there so I guess the fans of flower horn fishes will get to see all the latest that Flowerfish is producing.

Thats about it for now... I am going to take it easy on this since its my debut post.

Ciao!

Hello Flowerfish.com, I've been following your fish for some time and I'm glad to see that you have come such a long way from those Blue/Rainbow Dragon days. Although I believe the faded fish, especially the Kamalau's are going to be a big craze, I also believe that the nonfaded fish such as your "Prolific Kamalau Dragon Breeder" will be just as popular. The thing with the FH Hobby is that someone has a nice fish, they show it off on the web, they get tons of praise and now that person has just started the newest craze. With all the different body types, colors, flower lines and pearling patterns possible on a Flower Horn, the combinations are limitless as the designs of a snowflake. With this huge canvas of colors to work with, pulling on genes from Texas Cichlids, Synpillium, Pearl FHs, Kamfas, Parrots, GMs, ect... , the FH hobby can have a new craze every year for hundreds of years without every running dry. While this huge canvas gives the everyday FH hobbyist a limitless selection to choose from, it makes it extremely difficult for breeders to select what they want to cross in order to create their newest masterpieces. As soon as a breeder finds a fish worthy of the attempt to recreate, a new variant arrises which causes the breeder to start anew. Just my thoughts from a small time hobbyist, I truely enjoy seeing your creations,
Simon from FHUSA

Hi Simon!

I fully agree with you on your comments. The huge canvas that you talk about is especially true. Generally a masterpiece still must have certain criterias and also it will depend on individual preference.

I, for one, prefer fishes that have a good, balanced head, colorful and good body shape. If hobbyists follow these selection criterias, they will not go wrong.

The reason why FH is going to be around for ages is just that they are very much more lively, colorful, sizeable than lots of other fishes. Hobbyists get to have a collection of different fishes with varied characteristics and everytime a new variety comes out, there is another new excitement for everyone.

The demand for good fishes is always high and the supply will never meet it. That is why, prices will keep going up for good fishes and real collectors will understand.

Soon, I can foresee that this hobby can potentially be a small time business for collectors to buy-sell masterpieces. Maybe it is already happening!

Thanks for your comments and do enjoy continue visiting and adding to our blog.
